MDit
Privacy Policy
Effective October 23, 2026
Green Balloon (Jungwan Gu) handles information in the MDit app as follows.
What we collect
We do not collect personal data. We run no servers, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
What stays on your device and iCloud
- Documents (.md files), attached images, chat history and settings are stored on your device, in a folder you choose, or in your iCloud Drive.
- Your ChatGPT connection (sign-in tokens, account email) is stored only in the device keychain.
- Transcription and text recognition in photos run on device. Audio and photos never leave the device.
What is sent to OpenAI
When you connect ChatGPT and use ask, convert or proofread, the following is sent to OpenAI under your own ChatGPT account:
- the questions and instructions you enter
- the document content needed for the answer (the selected documents or relevant parts) and any attached text
- documents and code comments from folders you attach read-only (references), only when you include that reference in the conversation's reading scope or ask with one of its documents open; code itself is never sent
- text extracted from web pages whose addresses you paste with your question (see "Reading pasted web addresses" below)
- settings needed to produce the answer, such as your writing style
- if picture making is on, the picture engine's specs and your device's condition (downloaded models, free memory, thermal state, battery level and charging, Low Power Mode) so the AI can suggest scene pictures
- if picture review is on, pictures drawn by the app that the AI reviews in a conversation (see "Picture making" below)
Nothing is sent until you agree when you first connect. The app asks OpenAI not to store responses. OpenAI's handling is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy and your ChatGPT settings.
- Recipient: OpenAI (United States)
- When: each time you use an AI feature, over the internet
You can disconnect at any time in the app under Settings › AI.
Web search
When "Web Search" is on in Settings › AI (the default), OpenAI may search the web when the AI decides an answer needs it. Search terms are generated from your question and conversation, so they may include parts of your question or documents, and the search is carried out on OpenAI's side. For web search, the app does not connect to websites itself or send search terms to us.
Source pages attached to an answer open in your browser only when you tap them, and then follow that site's own policy. Turn off "Web Search" in Settings › AI to get answers without searching.
Reading pasted web addresses
If you paste a web address into the message box and send it, the app downloads that page directly from your device when the answer needs it, extracts its text, and sends the text to OpenAI. It reads only addresses you paste, uses no cookies or cache, and does not read addresses on your device or a private network.
As with any browser visit, that website receives connection details such as your device's IP address, and its own policy applies from then on. The address and page text are not sent to us.
Local integration on the same Mac
If you turn on Settings › Integrations on a Mac, tools running on the same Mac can read the documents you allow and propose changes. The connection stays inside that Mac (127.0.0.1) and requires an access token.
Picture making (on-device model)
When you download a picture model in Settings, the app downloads the model files directly from Draw Things' model server (static.libnnc.org). As with any download, that server receives connection details such as your device's IP address. Models are downloaded only when you tap Download.
Pictures are drawn on your device and saved where your documents are (your device, a folder you chose, or iCloud Drive).
When the "Picture review with ChatGPT" setting is on (the default), the app sends pictures it drew (scene cuts and character pictures made with picture making), reduced in size, to OpenAI under your own ChatGPT account when the AI checks in a conversation whether they came out as set. It sends up to 4 at a time and up to 8 per answer, and never sends photos or pictures you added yourself. Turn this setting off and pictures never leave your device.
Feedback
If you send feedback by email from the app, we use your address and message only to reply and delete them once handled.
